Biography

Juri Hiraoka was born in Chiba, Japan, and trained at the Hiraki Ballet School and Canada’s National Ballet School. She joined the company as a member of the Corps de Ballet in 2003.

Ms. Hiraoka has danced the Queen of the Wilis in Giselle, Arabian Coffee in The Nutcracker and a featured role in Wolf’s Court. Her repertoire also includes roles in La Bayadère, Swan Lake, Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet, Onegin, The Sleeping Beauty, The Contract (The Pied Piper), The Taming of the Shrew, The Four Seasons, Song of the Earth, Désir, Etudes, Jewels, Serenade and Theme and Variations.

Ms. Hiraoka danced in the world premieres of Matjash Mrozewski’s Monument, James Kudelka’s An Italian Straw Hat, Crystal Pite’s Emergence and Peter Quanz’s IN COLOUR. She also performed in the recent company premieres of John Neumeier’s The Seagull and Davide Bombana’s Carmen.

While at Canada’s National Ballet School, she was the recipient of the Peter Dwyer Award.
