Monthly Gifts

A simple and convenient way to give

Turning Pointe, the monthly giving program, is an easy way to support the National Ballet. A monthly amount is a manageable and convenient way to donate while providing an even and predictable source of support for the National Ballet.

Simply select your donation amount and have it applied to your credit card once a month (on the 1st or 15th each month). You will automatically receive your benefits package every fall and your official tax receipt at the end of each tax year. Your gift will continue, without need for renewal, until you decide to change or cancel.

Thank you.

Gifts of Securities/Stocks

A tax smart way to make your gift

While gifts of cash are the most common way to give, a donation of securities could offer greater tax advantages. Under the recent Canadian taxation rules, donors are no longer taxed on capital gains accrued on securities such as public company shares, bonds, mutual fund units and employee stock options, when donated to a registered charity such as The National Ballet of Canada.

For example, if you donate stock that was originally purchased for $800 and now has a fair market value of $2,000, you will receive a tax receipt from The National Ballet of Canada for $2,000 and will not pay tax on the capital gain of $1,200.

Making a gift of stock is easy:

  1. Complete the securities form and return it to the National Ballet at:
    Fax: 416 345 8323
Mail: The Walter Carsen Centre for The National Ballet of Canada
    470 Queens' Quay West
    Toronto, Ontario, Canada M5V 3K4
    E-mail: mmeads@national.ballet.ca
  2. Contact your stockbroker with your request to transfer stock (the National Ballet's account and broker information are included on the securities form).

Corporate Matching Gifts

Double your support of the National Ballet with a matching gift from your employer

Many companies encourage employees to make donations to charities and not-for-profit organizations by providing incentives in the form of matching gifts. Some companies will even match contributions of past employees in addition to current employees, board members and directors as well as spouses, widows and widowers. Your employer may match your gift dollar for dollar or even at a higher ratio than 1:1, thereby offering further support to The National Ballet of Canada.

Please check with your company's charitable giving or human resources department to see if there is a matching gift policy in place. Your company will have a procedure for submitting a gift to be matched.
